SITUATION OVERVIEW
Throughout July 2026, the humanitarian situation in Gaza continued to deteriorate amid ongoing military operations, expanding access-restricted areas, critical supply shortages, and deepening funding shortfalls as repeated displacement is conning civilians to an increasingly limited coastal area. conning civilians to an increasingly limited coastal area.
Overcrowding, limited shelter capacity, damaged water and sanitation infrastructure, and debris accumulation continued to undermine living conditions and access to basic services. Shelter and non-food item (NFI) stocks remained critically depleted; the number of families receiving shelter assistance fell by 37 per cent from May to June due to funding shortfalls, and prolonged Israeli restrictions on the entry of critical shelter materials continue to constrain the response.
The Humanitarian Country Team warned that the continued expansion of areas under Israeli control intensi ed risks to civilians and further constrained humanitarian eorts, with some partners forced to scale down or temporarily suspend life-saving activities particularly following the killing of service providers in these access-restricted areas. The UN continues to call for rapid, safe and unimpeded passage of impartial humanitarian relief to be facilitated, and for civilians and humanitarian personnel to be protected at all times.
