• Shelter Cluster partners continued delivering life-saving Shelter and NFI assistance across the Gaza Strip throughout June, responding to urgent needs among affected households through in-kind and voucher modalities. In June 2026, a total of 36,210 households were reached with shelter and NFI support. Distributed items included 17,626 tarpaulins, 14,814 kitchen sets, 12,670 bedding kits, 7,055 bedding items, 1,334 tents, 504 clothing voucher CVA, 50 clothing kits, and 65 sealing off kits. These interventions remained critical in addressing urgent shelter and household needs, supporting vulnerable and displaced populations, improving living conditions, and helping families cope with ongoing displacement and deteriorating humanitarian conditions across Gaza.
• Under the Rapid Joint Distribution Mechanism (RJDM), a significant increase in incident alerts was reported during the reporting period. Recorded incidents included artillery shelling, airstrikes, domestic fires, and forced displacement, affecting thousands of people across the Gaza Strip. Following rapid assessments, partners assisted 587 households with shelter and non-food item (SNFI) support. Of these, 464 households received joint response packages, while 123 households received shelter and NFI assistance tailored to their specific needs.
• Available stocks of essential household items inside Gaza have reached critically low levels, with remaining supplies sufficient to support fewer than 15,300 additional households. The facilitation of Shelter and NFI material entry remains urgently required to sustain response operations and respond to ongoing humanitarian needs, particularly considering increased seasonal requirements during the summer period.
• Shelter partners also reported additional interventions comprising the following:
◦ Emergency repairs and upgrades were completed for 1,837 makeshift shelters, bringing the cumulative number of upgraded makeshift shelters to 2,696.
◦ Emergency Shelter Kits (ESKs) were newly installed for 500 households, increasing the total number of installed ESKs to 867.
• In addition, partners completed emergency repairs to 1,025 partially damaged homes across Gaza’s governorates, bringing the cumulative total of rehabilitated housing units to approximately 1,299 by the end of June.
• During June, the distribution of solar-powered lamps to 7,200 households across the Gaza Strip was underway with support from IOM. The intervention targets 26 displacement sites in both northern and southern Gaza. An update from the implementing partner is still pending and has not yet been received by the Shelter Cluster (SC).
• Pipeline constraints continue to significantly limit the shelter response. The timely release of materials currently in the pipeline—particularly solar lights, timber for framing kits, ropes, and tools—remains essential to enable partners to scale up priority interventions. These include repairs of partially damaged shelters, upgrading makeshift shelters, and supporting a gradual transition toward early recovery activities.
